ge now and thenNowadays General Electric (hereinafter in the text – GE) is one of the largest and stable multi-sectors companies in the world with very high credit rating. GE profit in 2009 was 11,2 billion US dollars.


For over 130 years GE name and reputation is related to innovations and inventions that improves lives of millions of people every day.


Start of the company goes back to 1878, when Thomas Alva Edison established the Electric Light Company. Approximately four years later General Electric Company was established when Edison General Electric Company and Thomson-Houston Electric Company merged.


In 1896 General Electric (GE) became one of the 12 companies included in the recently established Dow Jones Industrial Index, where the company remains up to now.


Now the company that started with an invention of electric bulb employs approximately 300 thousand energetic employers in 160 countries. Besides in four research centres in different countries brightest minds work and each year patent several thousands of new technologies.
